Sonya + Brad’s Micro Wedding at Red Top Mountain

This is Sonya & Brad.
These 2 tied the knot a few months ago in California but many of their family & friends in Georgia couldn’t make it. With only about 30 guests, they did a sweet vow renewal at Red Top Mountain State Park and had a cook out afterward.

Look Who’s 1! Miss Charlotte’s Photo Shoot

Isn't she the cutest little nugget?!? Charlotte made us work for some of those smiles you see in the photos. We sang songs and did some laughing therapy. If you don't know what that is, look it up. After 10 minutes of nursery rhymes and laughing, her dad, Mike. said...

Senior Portraits at Barnsley Gardens & Resort – Adairsville, GA

Barnsley Gardens & Resort is a tucked away, little paradise in Bartow county, GA.
I was completely surprised to see this incredibly charming little resort village after driving through some parts of Georgia that time seemed to leave behind. It is about an hour north of I-285 & I-75.

This is Olivia and her dog, Cody…

Senior Portraits – Drape Shot

Heather Photographers’ studio has a black velvet drape on site for senior & graduation portraits.

I have learned that you get what you pay for. Although I found a drape for $50, I purchased the one from Maureen of Hollywood (the original creator of the Hollywood Portrait Drape), made from high end Fidelio Velvet (not fake velveteen) for $240. Remember, quality matters!

Heather Photographers is located in Cherokee County, Georgia, close to Woodstock & Canton.

The spectacular Bradford Pears bloomed early this year!

This year (2017), the Bradford Pear Trees bloomed about 2 weeks before I expected! In Canton, GA, I know of this special place with full grown trees lining a driveway and interspersed around this property. Next year, I will be ready for them by the end of February into early March. They are truly spectacular!

Full Maternity Session.
Heather Photographers Studio A
Feb. 7.
Photographer: Heather

Jenifer is about 34 weeks with baby #2. Almost 2 year old, Eleanor, was scared of the lights at first, so we just talked in my living room for a little bit until she warmed up. She really likes Cheerios. She still didn’t want to be in any pictures so we just let her play nearby while I took photos of Jenifer & Ben. After 15 minutes or so, she wanted to do what Mom & Dad were doing and, thankfully, we got some great family photos! Patience is key! 🙂

Nikki + Scott’s Crystal Falls Wedding Ceremony & Reception – Dawsonville, GA

What an incredibly beautiful day, even if it rained a smidge! Overcast skies make for beautiful pictures. Check out the groom’s speed boat entrance! Swagger!! Nikki looked beautiful and I truly loved all of the ivory lace dresses on the girls. There was a floating lantern ceremony for Scott’s dad with not a dry eye on the place! The setting is jaw-dropping with the lake and hills. Must see!

Katherine + Mac’s Ashton Gardens Wedding & Reception – Sugar Hill, GA

What an incredibly beautiful day for it being February…a high of 77 degrees! Wow. Incredible! Katherine looked beautiful and Mac had this insanely infectious smile. The dancing was off the hook and I can say I had a great time! We only had about 15 minutes of sunlight left when we were allowed to arrive at the venue, therefore very few natural light photos were taken.

Nancy + Mike’s Jamaican Beach Wedding – Montego Bay, Jamaica

Nancy + Mike’s Jamaican Beach Wedding – Montego Bay, Jamaica

Nancy & Mike live in Atlanta, GA and decided a beach wedding was what they wanted. They also decided that they wanted to bring a photographer rather than use the one being offered by the resort. So, in comes me! I feel so lucky to have been chosen to do a destination wedding in a place I’ve never been. One of the benefits to bringing a photographer was that I was able to capture the rehearsal dinner and some fun times on the beach too (no extra cost). It was the most magical experience. A sunny, tropical Caribbean wedding is JUST what the doctor ordered. It was hard to come back home. You would think Jamaica would have been this couple’s honeymoon too, but they actually took off across the globe to Africa. I can only imagine how much fun these 2 are having. Many blessings to you both. You are a beautiful couple and the love was felt throughout. Here is a the short story of their day:

Rachel + Zach’s Wedding in Dallas, GA – Bullock Springs Manor

Rachel & Zach were such a fun couple! We just barely beat the rain before being done with photos… but we did it! We nabbed the most important shots we could in the open field with the red barn in the background. I love to photograph at Bullock Springs Manor. The ceilings and walls are white which is great for bouncing flash. The fields and ceremony lawn are gorgeous too. There are lots of power lines but I am quite fond of them. 🙂

It is a smidge more rustic than your typical venue but it has all the space and amenities you could need and right next to the water. Another beautiful bride & handsome groom! Kara & Jordan were so much fun and so stinkin’ IN-LOVE!! I had so much fun. The Wheeler House and the new barn were incredible. I LOVE photographing at this venue! Note: the Stay Puft guy from Ghostbusters did not really show up and terrorize the wedding party. That’s photoshop. 😉

The Wheeler House encompasses true southern charm with its meaningfully preserved, yet restored grounds and house. Built in 1906, the house was constructed with Heart Pine tongue and grove floors, walls, ceilings, and wrap-around porches. The Wheeler House is a historic gem.

Newborn Sienna’s First Photo Shoot – Atlanta, GA

We normally photograph newborns under 14 days old. Due to a rescheduling due to a snuffly Sienna, we photographed her at nearly 3 weeks old. She was incredibly alert which nixed the standard sleepy studio setup. Although I tried very hard to get the sleepy shots…I even tried using the continuous lighting I have for video so the flash wouldn’t shock her every time I clicked the shutter. Unfortunately, the color of the 2 lights didn’t match and I was very unhappy with the outcome. It is very difficult & time-consuming to balance 2 lighting temperatures. But I must say, the candids turned out wonderfully.

Devin + Dustin’s Wedding at The Rock Barn in Canton, GA

Golly, it has been one rainy season around here! But a little rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of this lovely couple!

The ceremony & reception were at Cherokee County Historical Society’s Rock Barn (a.k.a. Crescent Farm). The Rock Barn, built in 1906, has been charmingly modernized without sacrificing the architectural integrity of a race horse stable. While the building itself has a maximum occupancy of 180, tents may be set up outside on the lawn to extend the facility.

Grace United Methodist Church on Ponce de Leon Avenue, Atlanta is old and grand. It is lovely with floor to ceiling stained glass and old exposed brick. The castle-like double doors on the front make a gorgeous background for photos.
Now….for the reception venue!!! Ohhhhhhhh La La….that Le Maison Rouge tucked into the back of the antique market, Paris on Ponce, Atlanta! Well….if I’d only had another 25 hours to shoot! This place is so much fun and a gluttony of fun, beautiful and crazy backgrounds….it’s a photographer’s dream and the guests were totally blown away!

Margaret’s 92nd Birthday Party – Canton, GA

I can’t always assume I know what I am walking into. Margaret was turning 92 and her son was throwing a party for her. He hired me because…well…you know…you never know how many more birthdays one will have past 92. And, a lot of the family was supposed to be there.

When I walked in, it was only Margaret and her nurse. I introduced myself to her and wished her a “Happy Birthday.” She told me that she didn’t want a party and asked her nurse to take her to her room; I never saw her again that evening.

The Industrial Telephone Factory Urban Decay Portrait Session – Atlanta, GA

Andy & I were working on calendar images for his shipping business. We set up a white background in his loft at the Telephone Factory in Atlanta, GA. When I walked the staircase & corridors of the old renovated factory, there was so much character that I knew I had to entice his kids to do some shots with me. I actually had to pay them each a dollar (to buy themselves an app). Wait a minute….!!! That’s not how this works!

Alli + Van’s Charming Chapel & Rustic Barn Wedding Photography – Fields Chapel and The Rock Barn – Canton, GA

Afternoon-Evening Wedding, April 6:

The little white chapel, called Fields Chapel in Canton, GA is so full of charm! The darling old chapel, built some time between 1768 and 1854, is surrounded by Canton country roads and beautiful gardens and is a great backdrop for an afternoon wedding. The couple did a “first look” before the ceremony. I really love this modern tradition. The ceremony was held indoors and was gorgeous just the same.

The reception immediately followed at Cherokee County Historical Society’s Rock Barn (a.k.a. Crescent Farm). The Rock Barn, built in 1906, has been charmingly modernized without sacrificing the architectural integrity of a race horse stable. While the building itself has a maximum occupancy of 180, tents may be set up outside on the lawn to extend the facility.

I truly enjoyed my day with Alli & Van. Everyone had an awesome time…lots of smiles and dancing going on.

Paten Proposes to Katy on Lake Lanier, GA – Photo Session

After only 10 years, Paten poped the question! lol…. Even though Katy was kind of bummed that nobody warned her so she could wear waterproof mascara, I think her makeup held perfectly through the tears…she’s a knock-out! When Heather O. asked if they wanted to do any other poses before she left, Katy grabbed Paten’s face and said, “this is all I need right here!”

Deirdre + Kyle’s Charming Southern Mansion Wedding Photography at The Gardens at Great Oaks – Roswell, GA

The Gardens at Great Oaks in Roswell, GA is so charming! The old 1842 secluded estate, with a canopy of century old trees and magnificent and breathtaking gardens, becomes the perfect backdrop for every wedding. Complete with wild flowers, primroses, blue bells, array of roses, gardenias, and hydrangeas flooding your senses of sight and smell. Fountains, artistically designed lighting and gazebo all to create an elegant …lush….romantic setting. The ceremony was held outdoors and there is a banquet hall separate from the home so that the antiques aren’t destroyed by anybody doing “the wobble.” I truly enjoyed my day with Deirdre and Kyle. I felt the love and energy emanate. …a WONDERFUL experience, had by all! Thanks to all of the wonderful vendors that made this day possible.
